As If I Could Forget

Inspired by Edna St. Vincent Millay’s Sonnet 3, this work reflects on the inevitability of endings and the quiet persistence of memory. Made with impermanent materials like mud, dirt, and plaster, it started to shift and break down almost right away. Its weight pulled it down to the floor not by choice but by gravity and surrender, where it spilled and tore across the surface with a fierce, urgent energy. Over time, it became less a painting and more a record of pressure, presence, and slow loss. This work keeps pushing my investigation of how material, movement, and time connect, holding on and eventually letting go of the body’s imprint.
