I Am the Space You Left Behind

2025, Bedsheets, dirt, pillowcases, watercolor pigment, dimensions variable

I Am the Space You Left Behind reflects on absence, intimacy, and the quiet weight of what lingers. Made from my own bedsheets and pillowcases, later stained with dirt and watercolor pigment, the work traces the residual presence of bodies and memories. The soft, worn fabrics evoke a domestic landscape imbued with emotional residue: at once tender, unsettled, and unresolved. Through acts of layering, staining, and draping, the piece becomes a site of mourning, remembrance, and quiet confrontation with the spaces left behind by others and by former versions of the self.
